Cardboard

My explorations with cardboard include repurposing shipping boxes, painting them with acrylic and cutting them into shapes.  Then collaged into dimensional work, adding staples and incorporating pieces of old drawings.   Two in the series are assemblage of random elements found in my studio, mounted on cardboard.  Somewhat Rauschenberg inspired, they seem to suggest a  narrative.  I also find the  material’s  abundance, rawness,  and lack of “preciousness” to be desirable qualities for use as a support in some mixed media drawings, encouraging in me a  certain freedom of expression.
